Josh Play Gay Not Quite a motss.con ix (via Zoom)

On Friday, November 25, 2022, the soc.motss.con bunch had another Zoom call.

We had 22 people over the course of the 2.5 hours or so I was there. I had fun catching up, and it seemed like others did too. Discussion topics (as I wrote them down, but not necessarily in chronological order) included:
  • Zoom issues (and audio and video and...)
  • Programming and technology
  • Family calendars
  • Locations and visiting
  • Work commitments and family obligations
  • Thanksgiving and other harvest festivals
  • Climate change
  • Summer camp
  • motss.con CFP ideas
  • Pennsylvania and railroads
  • Amtrak cross-country travel
  • Upcoming likely railroad strike
  • UK university and U-Cal strikes
  • Student debt relief
  • Twitter and social media
  • Layoffs and the tech industry
  • Autonomous vehicles, bicycles, and scooters
  • Travel, lodging, and accessories
  • Locking down and other safety measures
  • Previous pandemics, flu, polio, antivaxers, and conspiracy theories
  • Canning
  • Childhood vaccinations... and adulthood vaccinations too
  • Gun control
  • More con location ideas (Los Angeles CA, Palm Springs CA, Philadelphia or Bethlehem PA)
  • Reminiscing of cons of yore
  • Dogs and their related antics
  • Cute animals and clothing therefor
  • Holidays in places other than in the USA
  • Hair, haircuts, barber shops, facial hair, and hair options (and not just for the hair on one's head)
  • Forensic art history
  • Cleaning centuries of grime off paintings and buildings
  • What to watch on broadcast or streaming video (and when or how):
    • Abbott Elementary (ABC or Hulu)
    • Documentary about the Automat (Horn & Hardart)
    • Interview with a Vampire (AMC+)
    • The Good Place
    • The White Lotus
  • Dancing with the Stars (because Shangela but it was awful)
  • Joy in seeing old friends even if we haven't met in person
