Ingredients

Directions

Cream together the butter and sugars. Add oil, eggs, and vanilla; blend thoroughly. Mix in the dry ingredients, adding in small portions and blending between additions.

Chill the dough in the refrigerator several hours until completely chilled. (This step is important. If you don't do it the dough is very hard to work with and you get *very* thin cookies not unlike crackers.)

Shape chilled dough into balls, drop onto a greased cookie sheet, then flatten the dough ball with the bottom of a glass that's been dipped in water and then into granulated sugar. (You may want to use colored sugar for this step.)

Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 to 12 minutes. These cookies will be *very* pale, even when completely baked. Do not expect a golden brown cookie.

Recipe yields 10 to 12 dozen cookies.
