Today's project was to analyze this family (a rare element in the Davenport group) in terms of their descent from the Second Foundation.
Bint Ralf: Ralf, Tripoli, and Dhalana (thereby Dharanah, Dhalana's dam)
Bint Ralf had seven foals, four colts and three fillies, all of whom included Dharebah from the sire's side.
Sur Rock, Kirkentilloch: These two colts did not breed on in the Davenport context.
Black Prince UF, Palisades CF: these full brothers add El Alamein to the mix via their sire Plantagenet.
Palisades CF is in WI, has sired one filly (not a straight Davenport) and may be available.
Black Prince UF is in MA and available for breeding, although I gather his registration is not yet transferred to the new owner, Paula O'Toole (as of July 2001). He has one registered Davenport foal, Ajibi Amir EKUF (x Capucine).
White Jade: This mare did not breed on in the Davenport context.
Al Bayad Amira: produced a filly and four colts (all by Trouvere) for the Daughtons and was then sold to the Finnegans. Currently owned by Elizabeth Pade in CO, who is trying to get her in foal.
Trouvere adds El Alamein and Maedae to her produce (and thus they are technically in the Davenport-Hamidie group, according to current theory)
LCF Lady Guiniver: owned by the Daughtons and never bred, although Jackie is considering it. "Gwen" has been used for show and riding.
Trivere, Sir Trouvere, LC Francis Marion, Ala Tripoli: at least one of these colts was used for general list breeding and then gelded. Ala Tripoli is deceased; the other's whereabouts are unknown.
Reminisce: produced a filly and two colts that I know of.
Memoir UF: by Janan Abinoam. Is in MA, available for breeding (double-registered Pinto), but no Davenport foals as yet.
"Kelly", registration pending as "Lest We Forget". Gelded, but such a pretty mover that he inspired my interest in this group. Did not blood type to Tajar CF, so sire unknown.
Capucine, sired by Capulet, who adds Tara to her Second Foundation elements. She has produced one registered colt, Ajibi Amir EKUF, sired by Black Prince UF. She's also produced three half-Davenport CMK foals for Jane Stocks. In foal to Memoir UF, due early 2003.
Ajibi Amir EKUF: believed gelded and deceased.
Or, to present this in another way:
Ralf, Tripoli, Dhalana, Dharanah, Dharebah: All Bint Ralf Davenports trace to these five Second Foundation horses. Al Bayad Amira, Reminisce, and Memoir UF trace solely to these five.
+El Alamein: Black Prince UF, Palisades CF
+El Alamein, Maedae: LCF Lady Guiniver, Trivere, Sir Trouvere, LC Francis Marion
Of the ten horses on this list, three stallions are "whereabouts unknown". Another three stallions and two mares have no surviving Davenport get, although their whereabouts are known. That's most of the group.
Looked at from the perspective of the original imports, all of the Second Foundation horses mentioned above (except for Ralf and Maedae) trace only to the following imports: *Abbeian, *Abeyah, *Deyr, *Haffia, *Hamrah, *Jedah, *Muson, *Reshan, *Urfah, and *Wadduda.
Bint Ralf's descendants would then add the *Farha element (and if you accept Carol Mulder's theory about the Halloul/Petra dam switch, *Haleb and *Hadba).
Maedae's descendants add a line to *Haleb, as registered, or to the Hamidie-group horses *Obeyran, *Mannaky, and *Galfia via the mare Freda, as current mtDNA evidence suggests.
Looked at another way, we have four surviving mares (Reminisce, Al Bayad Amira, Capucine, and LCF Lady Guiniver), and three surviving stallions (Black Prince UF, Palisades CF, Memoir UF). Two of these horses are quite old, and two more are unlikely to be bred much within the group. I hope we can make use of what we have before the group thins further.
